A Detailed Look at The Autism Program
Focused on developing and reinforcing skills for daily living, the Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) Program provides a variety of skill-building opportunities. MSS provides meaningful life experiences in a safe and supportive environment. We encourage adults with ASD and related conditions to achieve to the maximum of their abilities.

Daily schedules - incorporating frequent transitions - are built on a select group of core activities. Included are vocational, leisure, sensory, recreation and life skills.

A core schedule provides a sense of routine. Elective activities change daily and are included to encourage adaptation. Because every day is different, participants learn flexibility. This approach addresses the challenges of daily living in an environment that supports the unique needs of people with ASD and related conditions. Our unconventional techniques surprise people who believe everything should always be “the same” for people with ASD—that is not the MSS Way!

First of its kind
The Autism Program at MSS Apple Valley was the first in Minnesota to receive a CARF Autism Accreditation. CARF accreditation assures that our person-centered planning process and programs have undergone stringent peer review. We meet and exceed the highest standards for both our program services and business practices. People with Autism are served in all our locations. Autism-focused programs at our Apple Valley and Brooklyn Park centers provide specialized services for people with ASD.

We will provide structure and flexibility and look for learning opportunities in activities and interactions with clients. We help people with ASD become more fully engaged with the world around them.
